Location The Knoxville Convention Center is located in downtown Knoxville and is nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains. The Knoxville Convention Center is easily accessible by car or air and conveniently located only 15 minutes from the McGhee Tyson Airport. Parking Downtown Knoxville has several parking garages and lots around the Center. Parking is FREE in all city-owned garages (to include Locust Street Garage) after 6pm and on weekends. Meeting Space Located in the heart of downtown Knoxville, the Convention Center has over a half million square feet of exhibit space. It has 3 levels which consist of exhibit halls, meeting rooms, and a ballroom. There is a state of the art kitchen and catering facilities, as well as a 461-seat Lecture Hall.

At the close of the 18th century a flood of settlers burst into Tennessee, transforming the Knoxville outpost on the Tennessee River into a gateway to the West. In 1791 the first territorial governor, William Blount, chose James White's Fort as the capital of the territory and renamed it for Secretary of War Henry Knox.
Earlier that year the chiefs of the Cherokee Nation had met along the Tennessee River and ceded all claims in the wilderness valley to the United States. Knoxville was the territorial capital 1792-96 and the state capital 1796-1811, and again in 1817.
