Location The Alexandria Riverfront Center is located only about 2 hours away from nearly all of the metropolitan areas in the state, including Baton Rouge, Shreveport, Lafayette, and Mississippi. The Center is right in the middle of the towns Alexandria and Pineville. Parking There is ample parking in the 500 space parking garage and several surface lots that surround downtown. Meeting Space Located in the heart of Alexandria, the Riverfront Center has almost 30,000 square feet of indoor exhibit space, as well as a 6,800 square foot Covered Outdoor Exhibit Area. The Alexandria Riverfront Center is also capable of handling more than 5,000 attendees with banquet space for up to 1850.

Alexandria is at the geographical center of Louisiana. The area lost most of its homes, cotton gins, courthouse records, churches and libraries in 1864 when Union troops burned Alexandria and nearby Pineville. St. Francis Xavier Cathedral was built in 1898 on the corner of Fourth and Beauregard streets, the 1865 site of a mutiny by troops under the command of Gen. George Armstrong Custer.
During World War II some 7 million troops trained in the Alexandria vicinity under Gens. Dwight Eisenhower, Mark Clark and George Patton. Much overseas military strategy was planned in the Hotel Bentley in downtown Alexandria.
